Invisalign or Fixed Braces

Using aligners as opposed to traditional fixed braces means that there are no issues with food getting caught, as at mealtimes, or for an important occasion, you can remove them. Your oral health is also well maintained as you can remove them to fully clean the aligners and your teeth, but we would still recommend you attend dental hygiene appointments.

How does Invisalign work?

You wear each tray for a specified period, gradually moving your teeth into the correct position. As your teeth start to move, it is important to visit the clinic regularly for your dentist to check your progress. Although you can remove the retainers, in order to achieve the best results in the quickest time, we always advise patients to wear them as much as possible, which quickly becomes a habit once you are used to them.

The Invisalign aligner system is an incredibly discreet and private way to help you achieve a smile you are proud to show off. They are made from patented SmartTrack™ material, unlike other brands, which is more comfortable and provides a better fit. They are also trimmed based on your gum line for comfort and appearance. Many people find that even those standing right in front of them are not aware that they are wearing the aligners. Depending on the level of straightening required, patients report seeing excellent results after only a few months in many cases.

How long do I have to wear my Invisalign for?

You should wear your Invisalign aligners for 20-22 hours per day.

Can I eat and drink while wearing Invisalign aligners?

One of the advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable, allowing you to eat and drink without restrictions. However, it’s recommended to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water to avoid staining or damaging the aligners. Be sure to brush your teeth and clean your aligners before reinserting them after meals or snacks.

Can I whiten my teeth afterwards?

Yes! A course of whitening is included in the cost of your Invisalign treatment.
