Dr Monica Neil

Dr Monica Neil is a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry with a well-established reputation for providing specialist high-quality dental treatment for children, accepting referrals, and seeing newly referred child patients in our Stroud and Cleevelands, Bishop’s Cleeve specialist dentist clinics.

Monica is also a hospital Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University Dental Hospital and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales. She was previously a Consultant at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London for two years.

Monica has worked as a Specialist Paediatric Dentist at Great Ormond Street Hospital where she was the first dentist to be nominated for a prestigious Great Ormond Street Hospital Staff Award. She completed her Specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry at Guy’s Hospital, London, passing her Membership in Paediatric Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has also passed an MSc in Paediatric Dentistry with Merit from King’s College, London which has helped to ensure she is providing evidence-based dentistry to an optimal standard. Monica completed her Consultant training at the Eastman Dental Institute, UCLH, London, and has also worked as Paediatric Dentist on the Surrey Multidisciplinary team for children with Cleft Lip and/or Palate for six years and at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Her research has been published in internationally renowned journals including the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry and she has been invited to speak across the world including Germany, Korea, and Switzerland. She has won multiple national and regional prizes including two prizes awarded by the British Dental Association.

Monica has an interest in managing children who are anxious or have behavioural problems or special needs and can provide Inhalation Sedation effectively to help patients relax if this is required. She is experienced in managing dental trauma, aesthetically restoring traumatised anterior teeth, and paediatric endodontics including the use of MTA. She routinely restores carious teeth providing pulp therapy and preformed metal (“stainless steel”) crowns if required, takes radiographs of children as needed and provides specialist care for children with medical problems, hypoplastic or hypo mineralised teeth, and hypodontia.
